Technology and services offered to companies

Following is a description of the technologies offered by CEMITEC divided by fields and technological lines. It should be pointed out that CEMITEC's various lines are accustomed to working in a coordinated fashion as this is required by many companies.

1. Materials
Technological assistance in materials
  • Metallic and polymer materials.
  • Technological assistance: Accredited testing: ENAC accredited tests on metallic and polymer materials that certify the quality of our clients’ productive processes. Among the tests are characterisations of metallic and polymer materials that include: chemical tests, physical tests (tensile strength, hardness, resilience, fluidity index, etc.), metallographic characterisations, thermal characterisations, etc.
  • Bonding technologies: Specific tests on welded bonds of metallic materials. Approval of processes and welders.
  • Degradation-oxidation: Determining the resistance of materials to different exposures, such as sunlight, humidity/temperature, saline mists, industrial environments, etc.
  • Defect and fault analyses: metallographic techniques and analyses of causes of cracking during service of materials and parts, proposing solutions and alternatives for design, functionality or materials.
  • Process assessment and improvement: Use of common laboratory techniques to define or improve transforming processes of metallic materials (pressing, punching, forging, etc.) or polymer materials (injection, moulding, etc.) which might pose problems with either the material itself (changes or replacements) or with the process parameters (improved productivity, tooling changes). Of particular importance among these activities is the analysis of and guidance on the materials used in the process, its coatings, treatments and the adaptation of the material to be processed.
  • Component life evaluation: Dynamic tests of components and parts manufactured with polymer, metallic or mixed materials to determine their fatigue performance.
  • Guidance in implementing characterisation and testing systems.
  • Search of an increase in productivity to reduce testing costs.
Component durability
Development and improvement of the performance of various materials / components against stressing by oxidative agents, friction and fatigue.
  • Base stressing specifications for the material / component.
  • Design of tests and conditions.
  • Experimentation.
  • Analysis of results.
  • Material / component that meets desired specifications or valid material / component:
    • Oxidation / corrosion.
    • Friction / wear.
    • Mechanics / fatigue.
Low-weight, high-performance materials
  • Selection / replacement / definition of materials (*) to reduce costs / increase performance of an improved or newly-developed product. (*) We refer to this by material type: High performance steel, light alloys, polymer materials and composites.
  • Optimising manufacturing pathways.
  • Searching for technical and financial feasibility.
2. Mechanics
  • Development of mechanical products.
  • Fluid Mechanics and Thermal Engineering.
3. Electronics
E.M.C.
  • Pre-certification tests for products that require certification and guarantees to the EMC standards for those products that do not require certification.
  • Guidance for compliance.
Development of electronic / (mechatronic) products
  • Development of electronic / (mechatronic) products and testing benches for electronic and mechatronic products. Examples: Automotive / ECUs & Vending & machinery and other mechatronic products & large and small home appliances & renewable energies & electronics industry

* Also, CEMITEC provides strategic monitoring services (technological monitoring and competitive intelligence) for companies.
